Willow Branches in Autumn Winds

Text

I’m hoping to write some more about our fabulous trip to St. Louis at some point, but this week I’ve been focusing on preparing a sermon for Sunday. I’ll be preaching at our church, Bethany Covenant Church in Lyndhurst, while our pastor is away. (On a side note: I also want to write more about our church. We began going there in January and became members in May. After a year of searching, it’s great to have found a church community to belong to.) I am excited about this opportunity—I love leading Bible studies, and I have given some talks at InterVarsity meetings and such, but this is my first opportunity to preach at a Sunday morning service.

Unfortunately, I’ve been struggling this evening to get into “the zone” with putting my thoughts on paper. Greg, our pastor, suggested a passage to preach on, and I’ve been thinking about it a lot for several weeks, but now that I’m sitting down to actually write, I’m a little stuck. Hence, I am procrastinating by sharing on Tumblr that I have writer’s block. I have a very busy few days coming up, so I’m not sure when I’ll have another big chunk of time to work on it.

Willow Branches in Autumn Winds Sixpence None the Richer has a lyric: "My thoughts were like willow branches caught in autumn winds." That is a perfect description of my brain. This blog is where I get those thoughts out of my head and into the world.
